The International Conference on Electronic Commerce (ICEC) provides a forum for the top the scientific research community in e-commerce from all over the world annually. Recognizing the proliferation of e-commerce innovation and importance of e-commerce research, the first ICEC conference was initiated by reputed researchers in this area including Prof. Jae Kyu Lee at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Seoul, Korea, Prof. Andrew B. Whinston at University of Texas at Austin, USA, and Prof. Beat Schmid at St. Gallen University, Switzerland, and held in Seoul, Korea in 1998. Besides, they also co-founded a non-profit international community namely International Center for Electronic Commerce in 1996.
Since its inception, the ICEC conferences have held in Seoul, Korea (2000), Vienna, Austria (2001), Hong Kong (2002), Pittsburgh, USA (2003), Delft, the Netherlands (2004), Xian, China (2005), Fredericton, Canada (2006), Minneapolis, USA (2007), and Innsbruck, Austria (2008).
In recent years, ICEC conferences attract more than 100 participants from all over the world each year and become the most important e-commerce related international conferences.
